Violence Against Children (VAC)
Uganda
Violence against children is one of the most pressing human rights challenges in Uganda, particularly within refugee communities. YOBAC’s VAC program is one of the core human rights instruments established by the organization, aiming to safeguard children from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Refugee children face heightened risks both during their flight and within settlements, where they are vulnerable to forced labor, early marriage, and violence.
YOBAC, in partnership with the Children’s Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF), is implementing projects to end violence against children while promoting life skills and economic empowerment. These initiatives include access to quality education, psychosocial support, and mapping available child protection services. By strengthening community-based protection mechanisms, YOBAC is creating safer environments for children to grow and thrive.
