ABOUT YOBAC
Driven by Experience, Committed to Change
Empowering Youth, Women, and the Most Vulnerable Communities
YOBAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth, women, and the most vulnerable communities by fostering civic education, intelligent leadership, and economic self-sufficiency. Operating across Uganda and the DRC, YOBAC runs a diverse range of programs, including primary education, child protection, sexual and gender-based violence prevention, agricultural training, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
At the core of YOBAC’s mission is a commitment to equipping these groups with the knowledge, skills, and resources to take control of their future. By fostering self-sustaining growth through local human, natural, and financial resources, YOBAC plays a critical role in the fight against extreme poverty—whether intellectual, socio-economic, or behavioral.
YOBAC envisions thriving, development-driven communities grounded in strong moral, cultural, and social values. In these communities, young people and women are equipped with the confidence, knowledge, and determination to drive positive change. By strengthening their engagement in political and economic governance, YOBAC helps foster societies that are more stable, equitable, and prosperous—where public well-being and personal advancement go hand in hand.
Our Founding
In 2016, African youth refugees set the foundation for YOBAC as they gathered in Uganda. Originally from Congo (DRC), Rwanda, Uganda, and South Sudan, they set out on a mission to transform African refugee communities.
With a team of volunteers and international Board Members, we support children, orphans, youth, and women who have survived war, conflicts, suffering, violence, and other challenges. We provide guidance, education, and training to address the lasting impact of war, displacement, and separation from their families. Our goal is to tackle the root causes of poverty and create a better future.
Today, Youth Organization for Building African Communities (YOBAC) is a volunteer-based, non-profit youth organization in the Kyangwali refugee settlement, Hoima District, Uganda.
